CEO and President, Hispanic Scholarship Fund
A native of Los Angeles, Alvarez knows the organization well. He has served on the HSF Board for more than 15 years, including the distinction of being the first non-founding Chairman.
Frank is a third generation Mexican American. First born to blue collar proud working parents, he readily acknowledges that he struggled through high school, dropped out of community college and then volunteered for the Army during Viet Nam because he had few other options. Upon being honorably discharged, he started anew his academic studies and enrolled at East Los Angeles Community College when he returned to California at 21 and earned an AA degree with honors.
He has been a member of the Arizona State Board of Education and currently serves on the Lumina Foundation for Education board and on the board of the Western Governors University.
Frank has more than 30 years of executive leadership experience, most recently as President & CEO of the TMC Healthcare, the largest healthcare provider in Southern Arizona with a staff of more than 3,500.
