Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in Atlanta with Stop Hunger Now

MLK16.jpg.jpeg On January 20th, 80 FedEx employees gathered in a warehouse in South Atlanta to package 20,088 meals through Stop Hunger Now, a global humanitarian aid organization aimed at ending hunger worldwide. In just two short hours these employees filled, weighed, sealed, and boxed thousands of bags containing a nutrient-rich mixture of rice, soy, and vegetables.

For those who have never experienced a meal packaging event with Stop Hunger Now, it might come as a shock to hear that it is even possible to put together so many meals in so short a time...

FedEx Helps to Deliver a Healthier Future with Food & Friends for the Washington, D.C. Community

40th Anniversary Washington DC Group Photo.jpg Recently, nearly 30 FedEx volunteers joined Food & Friends in Washington, D.C. to celebrate FedEx’s “40 years of delivering a better future.” Through their nearly 90 hours of volunteer service that day, the volunteers were also able to ensure Food & Friends could keep our promise of providing specialized nutritious meals to our clients living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses. The helping hands and willing hearts of FedEx staff prepared and packed over 2,500 client meals including chopping 150 pounds of cabbage!

A gift for Freedom Service Dogs

freedomservicedogs.png Judy McMillan, from FedEx in Denver, wrote to our department to see if we could help in moving donated Purina pet foods for Freedom Services Dogs. It is within the city of Denver and the shelter did not have the capability of picking up the food, so FedEx came to the rescue. Here is Judy's thank you:

FedEx Teams Up With the Washington Redskins to Deliver Thanksgiving Dinner at FedExField

For the eighth year, FedEx volunteers will team up with the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and Operation Blessing to sort and package 45,500 pounds of frozen turkey and 110,000 pounds of fresh and canned produce for distribution at Harvest Feast. This annual event at FedExField distributes frozen turkeys and groceries to help local families celebrate Thanksgiving.

I Know Why FedEx Cares in Los Angeles

For 7 years, it has been my privilege to lead the annual FedEx Cares Los Angeles program. Over the years that I’ve coordinated this project, I’ve learned a lot about the needs in my own community and about the company I work for. The type of project that we do and the location of the project varies from year to year, but the outpouring of support from our Southern California team members never wavers. And although I see it time and again, I’m always amazed at how willingly our team members step up to volunteer and give back to those in need.
