Hagerstown Volunteers Strengthen Local Community, Foster Sustainability

Whether it’s providing much needed aid in their community or protecting the environment, FedEx Ground’s Hagerstown, Md., employees always deliver. Throughout the spring, volunteers have been actively working to boost the people and world around them. They’ve been busy at the Maryland Food Bank, sprucing up a nearby national park and supporting the Salvation Army. Not bad for a team that’s also supporting one of the largest central sorting facilities in the FedEx Ground network.

FedEx and Red Cross Relationship Showcased at Global Vounteer Conference in Singapore

I received a call some months ago from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Geneva, Switzerland inviting FedEx to present at the International Association of Volunteer Effort (IAVE) Global Conference in Singapore the week of January 24 (www.iave2011.org). More than 1,000 delegates from 100 countries participated in the Conference.

As the IAVE conference is the world's premier global conference in the volunteering arena, it was quite an honor to receive the invitation. Presenters and attendees were quite diverse. They included the President of Singapore, the President of the IFRC, actors Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh...

Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King

Last Monday  we observed the holiday honoring the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The day is celebrated in many ways, from parades to volunteering to helping others, every year many make this day a day to work to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King, and not simply taking a day off work. Here at FedEx we made the day a Day of Service by partnering with the Hands on Network to give back to communities in Chicago, Dallas, Memphis, Newark and Washington, DC.
