A Commitment that Makes a Difference

Untitled3.png Every year, I look forward to Walk This Way Month, an annual campaign dedicated to providing road safety education to kids in schools. This is the time of the year when we (FedEx and Safe Kids) truly work as a team to fulfill our mission of keeping kids safe while walking.

This time of year is so special for me because we make such a difference in the lives of children and families. I still think about one second grade girl from Beijing named Joy Li, who we met last year during Walk this Way Month. Joy Li walked to school every morning across four major roads. She told us how she learned a lot of bad habits from adults. She didn’t cross the streets at the crosswalks and she ignored the light signal when she was in a hurry.

After our Walk This Way Month activities, Joy Li changed many of these habits...

FedEx Cares: Building Bridges with Books

Grand Entrance (50) (1024x768).jpg.jpeg When Principal Bob Moseley walks the halls at Jolly Elementary School, he sees more than bustling students and projects on display; he sees rich opportunity.

His students are making great strides as evidenced by Jolly’s students increasing their reading levels by an impressive nine percent this past school year. Through a program established to track and reward student reading, students collectively read more than 6,000 books and 10 million words.

FedEx and United Way prepare children for their future

I've lived in the lovely city of Paris for more than seven years, but I recently discovered a new side of this city during a tour with United Way, which aimed to rally local community support around underprivileged youth issues. Imagine that you are walking down a street in an affluent area of Paris, with nice markets and beautiful buildings all around you. What if I told you that just two minutes away, down a small set of stairs in a narrow street, there is a totally different underworld lurking down there where children are in need of your help?

How to Grow a Greener School!

ESO_Contest_Newsroom Photo.jpg.jpeg Do you know a school that makes the eco-friendly honor roll? FedEx is launching the Grow a Greener School Contest to help give teachers, students and parents the resources to create hands-on sustainability projects at their school.

Inspired by the FedEx EarthSmart Outreach urban conservation projects led by FedEx volunteers and supported by National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, FedEx is offering all U.S. schools the opportunity to enter for a chance to win one of three grants (valued at $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000) to help complete their school’s green initiatives.

FedEx Supports Educators with Sponsorship of "Teachers Rock" on CBS Tonight

Every year, the Back to School season brings a flurry of activity for me both at work and at home. At our FedEx Office stores we see students, parents, and teachers buying school supplies, making "welcome back" posters and banners, printing classroom materials, and even packing and shipping all the essentials (like hot pots and Ramen noodles) to dorm rooms across the country. At home, my daughter is busy getting ready as well as she prepares for her freshman year of high school.
