These messages from Trees for Troops recipients will warm your heart

UAE treeslg.jpeg Imagine a smiling group of U.S. soldiers gathered around a Christmas tree that was grown on an American farm and shipped to arrive fresh and green somewhere on the other side of the world, just in time for Christmas. Or, imagine a military spouse and children sharing joyous memories of Christmas through the gift of a free, real Christmas tree while their family member is away serving our country. Trees for Troops makes this vision a reality!

The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation and FedEx made this program a reality for the first time in 2005. That year, the program was organized in only 45 days and delivered 4,300 live Christmas trees to families at five military bases in the U.S. and overseas. Now, with the generous help of FedEx, we distribute 16,000-17,000 trees each year.

Memories, Joy, Surprise: It’s What We Really Deliver!

Anna Toth_EMEA.jpg With millions of packages shuttling around the world throughout the holiday season, it’s by far the busiest time of year for FedEx team members. But we’re not simply delivering packages—our team members connect people and possibilities around the world. This year we asked them to share with us special holiday memories—something that goes beyond the package and highlights what else we deliver.

In the comments section below, we hope you’ll share your memorable FedEx holiday delivery!...

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade: Brought to you by… robots!

Fedex_robot_00074-edited-sm.jpg This year’s traditional Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City will have a new twist, as teams of high school students and their robots from around the country are opening the parade.

The students are representing FIRST Robotics Competition, which was founded by inventor Dean Kamen to inspire interest and participation in science and technology. FedEx has been a proud supporter of FIRST for 13 years, and we’ve donated shipment of the robots to New York for the parade.

We caught up with some of the teams and asked these brilliant students a few questions. Here’s what the students had to say...

Delivering the Holidays, FedEx Style

DSC_0222.jpg This year marks the ninth annual “Trees for Troops” program delivered by FedEx. Today, FedEx volunteers in Thorntown, Ind., are officially kicking off this year’s initiative as they prepare hundreds of fresh trees destined to military members stationed in the Middle East. For military personnel serving abroad, the trees will provide a living connection to their holiday traditions at home.

Another Fruitcake? Take a Break from Holiday Returns Stress

photo for returns blog post 12 26 12.jpeg It has happened to all of us. The gift you never saw coming and would never use. Mine was a Thighmaster (Yes. THAT Thighmaster!) A well intentioned aunt (to remain anonymous) wrapped and shipped what she thought was the perfect holiday gift for yours truly. I unwrapped the paper, opened the box and wow, if that was what she thought was the right gift for me, perhaps I should lay off the Christmas cookies! She meant well, but one look and I knew this gift was one that would never leave the box (along with the roasting pan my grandmother gave my cooking “challenged” wife the year before). So I did what a lot of us now do – I returned that unwanted item.
