Observance of Minority Health Month

FedEx Express Employee Benefits enthusiastically supports the efforts of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and thousands of individuals across the country in the National Health Observance of Minority Health Month - April 2013. This year’s theme is “Advance Health Equity Now: Uniting our Communities to Bring Health Care Coverage to All."  Minority Health Month 2013 builds on strategic priorities to engage all consumers as advocates for their own health care and the health care of their families and communities. Throughout this month, FedEx Express Employee Benefits will emphasize the importance of promoting better health outcomes for all Americans.

All employees are encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle combined with preventive care can help offset the development of chronic conditions that lead to decreased quality of life and premature death. FedEx Express Benefits provide 100% coverage for in-network preventive care. Both FedEx Premier and FedEx Choice cover routine physicals, well-baby care, immunizations and well-person exams with no copayment, deductible or coinsurance. This means preventive services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to you and your covered dependents. So make your appointment today for your preventive care visit! Encourage others to do the same.

Access http://minorityhealth.hhs.gov/ for detailed information on health disparities from the Office of Minority Health. In the coming days, the Office of Minority Health will also share more details about National Minority Health Month on their website, including messaging and tools that you can use to help educate, inform and motivate action in the communities where you live, work, learn and play.

Also, visit the National Partnership for Action webpage and take the online partner pledge to show your commitment to a nation free of disparities in health and health care.
