FedEx Feeds

It’s hard for many to believe that there are so many people in the United States who go hungry. After all, we’re the richest nation on earth. But hunger pangs are a reality for 36 million Americans, and 12 million of those are children. And regardless of what country you live in, there’s no need more basic than food. That’s why FedEx team members around the country are joining me to help fight hunger this September during Hunger Action Month, a nationwide effort to motivate local action to end hunger.

During Hunger Action Month, FedEx team members around the country will volunteer their time to support hunger relief programs in their local communities. But the commitment doesn’t start or end with the month of September. Over the years, tens of thousands of FedEx team members around the country have helped to feed the hungry in their own communities by volunteering their time at local food banks, soup kitchens and meal delivery programs. All of these efforts will now be recognized and tracked as we introduce a new, national hunger relief program called “FedEx Feeds”. By leveraging our core competencies and the grassroots history of supporting the communities we serve, this year-round program will help to address a critical need in key U.S. markets and engage team members across the corporation.

Recently, I was privileged to be a part of the FedEx Operation Feed campaign, the annual workplace food drive to benefit the Mid-South Food Bank in Memphis. Even in this challenging economic environment, FedEx team members in Memphis donated a total of $100,344 and thousands of pounds of food.  The combination of donated goods and money will yield enough food to fill forty-nine 757 airplanes! Take a look at the video below and you’ll see why I’m so proud of the Operation Feed program, as well as the efforts of all FedEx team members around the country who volunteer their time for hunger relief organizations. Thank you for making a difference in your community!
