You might remember the 2012 blog post about how FedEx supported a maternity ward at a hospital in Tanzania. I am the coordinator of this project on behalf of the German medical charity action medeor, one of Europe’s largest such organizations.

This summer I had the opportunity to visit the ward and see for myself with my own eyes the great progress that has been made so far. I am now delighted to report back to you...

Saving Sight Worldwide: ORBIS International

...Through its education programs, the ORBIS Flying Eye Hospital does a lot more than just cataract surgeries. As the plane is so well equipped we are able to provide a variety of eye-training to the back and front of the eye and the area around the eye.

For example, not long ago we landed in Mongolia and 90% of the nation's ophthalmologists, and a large group of Ulaanbaatar ophthalmic nurses, joined our program over a three week period of time to update their training The entire Mongolian nation will benefit for years because of this one visit! Mongolia has benefited from our visit and we look forward to more of these programs in the future...

Scooper Bowl - Ice Cream for a Higher Purpose

...It's amazing to see so many people volunteer to take time off and work so hard at this event. Most are driven very personally - as almost all of us have been impacted by the scourge of cancer. We've seen our friends, family, and co-workers battle this relentless disease. Quite literally, as I'm writing this, a man in his 50's JUST delivered food to our workroom and made mention that in the 6th grade he as treated for cancer and benefited from The Jimmy Fund. Because of The Jimmy Fund, he has lived a healthy, happy and productive life.

The work done by organizations like this impact countless of people around us. Their stories surround us, inspire us, and motivate us to volunteer, give, and share from our hearts.
