Relief for Typhoon Haiyan victims – a personal perspective

...On the personal side, I had family members who lived in the direct path of Haiyan. During the storm and for days afterward, there was no word about these family members, but it turns out we were among the lucky ones. Everyone was safe and sound. But my heart still goes out to so many others in my country who were not so lucky, and are still suffering today....

FedEx Honored to Assist in Typhoon Haiyan Relief Efforts

005.jpg We are honored to work closely with disaster relief organizations (American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Direct Relief, Heart to Heart and Water Missions) to donate transportation of equipment and relief supplies to impacted areas. While many agencies on the ground are still assessing needs, we are pleased to report that our first flights with aid are on the way.

Direct Relief…When You Need It Most

Direct Relief promptly jumped into action and, as the only nonprofit licensed to distribute prescription medication in Oklahoma and all other U.S. states, knew that they had to transport needed medications and vaccines into the area quickly, safely and securely.

Many of these specific medications are temperature-sensitive and require specialized cold-chain handling in transit. So, in order to ensure that these commodities were secure from both theft and extreme temperatures, Direct Relief used our SenseAware service offering to manage and monitor this precious cargo en route...

Oklahoma tornado disaster relief - working with the best to make a difference

DirectRelief-FedEx_OK tornado response 5-22-13.jpg.jpeg Last week we all sat in disbelief as we witnessed the aftermath of the tornado in the Moore, Oklahoma area that left 24 people dead, including nine children, and displaced thousands of others.

Our hearts and prayers are with everyone touched by this tragedy, in Oklahoma and beyond. 



At FedEx, the safety and well-being of our team members and customers in the affected area is our top priority. We are proud to assist with relief efforts by supporting some of the world’s most capable disaster response organizations – organizations with whom we have longstanding relationships.


Speedy Support from FedEx for Sandy Relief Gets Big Thank You from Direct Relief

Earlier this month I participated in the Partners for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD) conference sponsored by FedEx and hosted by Direct Relief. Direct Relief is one of four major relief organizations with which FedEx works year round. They are the only NGO licensed to distribute pharmaceuticals in all 50 US States. Pharmaceutical companies donate product to them and they use the products to help a network of more than a thousand health clinics serve disadvantaged people across the US. They also provide medicines and medical supplies to NGOs around the world.
