How Many Prints Does it Take to Get to Disney World?

Like many great places to work, FedEx Office makes it a priority each year to recognize the hard work and success of our team members. The annual Team of the Year competition – in place since the 1980s, when the company was known as Kinko’s – is reserved to honor the best-of-the-best in our organization. One cluster, or group of stores, and one standalone center are selected based on their record of customer service, team member retention and financial performance. We also honor the top sales team in the nation for their hard work, sales performance and commitment to customers. And we’re not talking about mailing the winners a plaque or putting their names in the company newsletter. Nope, this award ends with an “I’m going to Disney World!” moment – just like at the Super Bowl.

Recently, four members of the FedEx Office executive team and I traveled from our headquarters in Dallas to Birmingham, Ala., and Topeka, Kan., to visit the 2010 Cluster and Center Team of the Year award recipients. Every year we take this field trip of sorts to meet with the winners and work alongside them for a day – learning from these all-star FedEx Office team members as they interact with customers.

Day One was spent in Birmingham, working side by side with 32 team members at the three locations in the winning cluster. The next day we traveled to Topeka, to work with 11 team members there. As you can see from the pictures, they definitely put us to work – but we had some fun, too. And like each year we do this trip, we saw first-hand how the honorees contribute to the great success of their stores and take pride in their work at FedEx Office. They make every experience outstanding for the customers and each other, and we’re thrilled to be able to highlight their success.

Although we’re back in Dallas, the winning Birmingham, Topeka and Sales teams went on a field trip of their own. As part of their reward, they have earned an all-expenses paid trip to Orlando, Fla. We hope they have a great time on this much-deserved vacation!

I’d like to say a special thank you to all of these award-winning team members for their efforts over the past year, and also for their hospitality during our visit. Congratulations to all of the honorees!
