FedEx celebrates our busiest day in history by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange
"What a great feeling - I'm so proud to be here. I'm born and raised here, and I love this city!" - Michael Moringiello, FedEx Custom Critical
Today offered a rare treat for nine of our FedEx team members, as the group had the distinct honor of ringing the opening bell at the famed New York Stock Exchange. FedEx celebrates its busiest day in history today, as holiday shipments hit their their peak. We at FedEx expect to move a record-setting 16 million shipments today, up nearly 13% from last year’s busiest day, and double the volume of an average night.
"On my days off I always watch the opening bell. It was just awesome to actually be the ones doing it today." said Peter Grullon, FedEx Express.
The nine representatives at the New York Stock Exchange represent the more than 285,000 FedEx team members around the world. Our bell ringers today:
Cheryl O'Brien - FedEx Express VP of regional opos
Isaac Archibald – FedEx Ground
Guy Pennisi – FedEx Ground
Gregory Terry – FedEx Express (Newark)
Peter Grullon – FedEx Express (Big Apple District)
Jason Young – FedEx Freight (Newark)
George Lopez – FedEx Freight (Newark)
Mike Moringiello – FedEx Custom Critical (Staten Island)
Edward Pena – FedEx Office
Tamikia Bruce – FedEx Office
We’re forecasting that between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we’ll use more than 680 FedEx aircraft and over 80,000 FedEx vehicles to move more than 223 million shipments through the global FedEx networks.
In addition to making our presence known on the trading floor, FedEx also set up a number of boxes outside on Wall Street, filled with toys and gifts which will be transported to the FedExFamilyHouse in Memphis. This special place is the result of FedEx and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital teaming up to create a home away from home for families with children in treatment at Le Bonheur.
