Don't you LOVE this face?
The beaming expression of pride and joy on the face of the mother in this photo (far right) is stunning. She is so proud of her son, who is seen receiving an award on March 6 for his participation in a story-writing and poster contest held by Safe Kids Foundation in Mumbai, India. The contest was part of Safe Kids' ongoing campaign to bring visibility to its child pedestrian safety programs which are sponsored by FedEx.
Safe Kids Foundation and the Mumbai Traffic Police worked together on this recent effort during Road Safety Week. Children from 36 schools participated in the story-writing competition and 148 children from four Fine Art Schools participated in the poster contest.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mr. S.S. Lolunke (in the photo, seated, fourth from left) presided over the award ceremony as Chief Guest. Rupa Kothari, with Safe Kids Foundation, is seen in the photo handing the award to the winner. Also shown is Professor Mangal Gogte (seated, second from left), member of the Road Safety Advisory Committee (Mumbai Traffic Police) and the judge for the story competition.
Congratulations to Safe Kids Foundation, India; to the Mumbai Traffic Police, and to all the participants in this initiative for helping make the streets of Mumbai safer for child pedestrians.
