Denny Hamlin Revs Up Support for the March of Dimes

FedEx team members across the country are gearing up to support the March of Dimes in one of its biggest fundraisers, the March for Babies. FedEx is proud to be a national sponsor for March of Dimes and support its mission improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

One of the highlights of the campaign for us was the unveiling of the co-branded March of Dimes/FedEx #11 Toyota on March 25 at Joe Gibbs Racing Headquarters in Huntersville, N.C. For the third year in a row, the car has carried the March of Dimes paint scheme in a spring race to raise awareness for the March for Babies walks. In addition to solid turnout at the event by March of Dimes supporters, many local FedEx team members came out to show their support and get the first peek at this year’s special car design. We were so excited to see the new design! And in case you couldn’t tell, we’re big fans of the color purple.

Coach Joe Gibbs and driver Denny Hamlin opened the ceremony by speaking about the importance of supporting organizations like the March of Dimes, and FedEx’s commitment to community programs. We also heard about how the March of Dimes makes a difference from Bill Neurohr, chairman of the Greater Piedmont Division of the March of Dimes. Bill, along with triplets Morgan, Preston and Chase Copeland, presented Denny with a unique helmet to wear when the car races at the Phoenix International Raceway on April 10.

The Copeland triplets were the winners of a helmet design contest held recently, where FedEx Office team members were invited to have their children design a helmet for Denny to wear in this race. Premature birth is an issue close to the hearts of the Copeland family, because their triplets were born seven weeks early. Thankfully, all three children are now healthy, active four (almost five!) year olds– and cute as can be, too! The helmet will be auctioned after the race with proceeds benefiting the March of Dimes.

We look forward to cheering Denny on as he revs up for the March for Babies to raise awareness and give every baby a healthy start in life!  Be sure to watch the big race on April 10 to see the special car and helmet. And in the words of the Copeland triplets, “Goooo Denny!”
