Carousel Cakes Talks About the Busy Time of Mother’s Day
By Nancy Finkelman, co-owner
Carousel Cakes is a family owned business, located in Nanuet, NY, founded in 1965 by Martin Lefkowitz, selling over 40 different varieties of cakes. Their Red Velvet Cupcake was named one of Oprah’s Favorite Things in “O” Magazine.
Mother’s Day is here again and it is always a very exciting time of the year for Carousel Cakes. We do love it, as moms and grandmas can get that sweet gift for their day, and our experience shows that a cake is an important part of many family’s celebrations.
As this is officially the second busiest holiday (according to the National Retail Federation), we already are operating at full capacity getting everything ready for Sunday. We have also started using social media more than in the past and expect more people to hear about us through that. Carousel has been doing this now for 37 years, so we are well prepared for these seasonal peaks in our business.
By the way, for those on the lookout for Mom, if she has a sweet tooth, cupcakes are really popular right now. We have opened three new cupcake stores in the last two years in New Jersey due to the current craze. Also, cupcakes are a nice treat for the whole family, are prepackaged for sharing and are shipped for next day delivery.
Of course, FedEx being there for our company makes a real difference and enables us to provide excellent service for our customers. FedEx has often saved the day for us, especially during holidays when critical shipments need to be there for the big day. We do overnight deliveries so it’s great to have the peace of mind that our product will arrive in great condition due to their excellent packaging and care of perishable items. Most important, I’m sure our customers are pretty happy about it too!
