Every day is Mother’s Day at The Flour Pot

flourpot2.jpeg My mom (Margie Greenberg) and I decided to start our own business – The Flour Pot cookie boutique - in 2003. We started in my mom’s kitchen – baking custom decorated cookies. Growing up, my mom was always making cookies – everyone always knew her for her cookies…friends would come over looking for my mom’s cookies. All kinds – chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, butter cookies. And when I graduated from college, my brother suggested that Mom and I go into business together selling her cookies. My mom and I always had a great relationship and my brother and my dad work together, so it seemed natural to give it a shot.

DirectRelief-FedEx_OK tornado response 5-22-13.jpg.jpeg Last week we all sat in disbelief as we witnessed the aftermath of the tornado in the Moore, Oklahoma area that left 24 people dead, including nine children, and displaced thousands of others.

At FedEx, the safety and well-being of our team members and customers in the affected area is our top priority. We are proud to assist with relief efforts by supporting some of the world’s most capable disaster response organizations – organizations with whom we have longstanding relationships.

Africa’s Moment to Move Forward

wef-capetown-square.jpg
I recently returned from the World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, South Africa.  The city lives up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful in the world.  But the assembled leaders were there to do much more than just take in the view.  Like the early explorers who founded Cape Town, this group of leaders came to chart a course for a new era of growth and opportunity for the continent.  Optimism was the prevailing mood of the participants, though

How to Grow a Greener School!

ESO_Contest_Newsroom Photo.jpg.jpeg Do you know a school that makes the eco-friendly honor roll? FedEx is launching the Grow a Greener School Contest to help give teachers, students and parents the resources to create hands-on sustainability projects at their school.

Inspired by the FedEx EarthSmart Outreach urban conservation projects led by FedEx volunteers and supported by National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, FedEx is offering all U.S. schools the opportunity to enter for a chance to win one of three grants (valued at $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000) to help complete their school’s green initiatives.

Strength from a symbol: The Boston Marathon through the eyes of one runner

IMG_1744sm.jpg FedEx courier Kevin Christie talks about the symbolism of a medal, and the importance of the shipment of finisher medals to all Boston Marathon runners who were unable to complete the 2013 race because of the bombing.

"...To every marathon runner, the finisher medal is sacred, but this year’s Boston medal will always be deeply treasured.

At FedEx Office, we constantly have our eye on innovation, even it if means going back to the sandbox for ideas. But we're not talking about the kind of sandbox you're probably thinking of - there are no castles, pails or shovels here. We're headed to share one of our latest innovations at the Developer Sandbox during Google I/O.

Same-Day Service for Lifelong Learning

earthsmart_fedex_blog2.jpg On April 27, more than 100 FedEx volunteers completed a very special same-day delivery: they created a sustainable learning garden in the span of one day. For the 612 students at Dr. Barbara Jordan Elementary in Dallas, this garden will help them connect with their lessons – and the environment – in a new and meaningful way.
