Davos in 2013 – the Future of Value Chain

Four years ago when I attended the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the theme of the program was “Shaping the Post-Crisis World” as the financial crisis continued to unfold in the developed world. Back then I wrote a blog titled “From Davos with Hope” to call for courage as key decision makers faced new challenges. Those were the final days of January 2009 when snow fell heavily in the tallest city in Europe, and when fear, anxiety and hope were all mixed among the meeting participants.

International Services Agreement on Trade: Great for U.S. Economy and World Trading System

Today the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) notified Congress of its intent to enter into negotiations on a new services-only plurilateral trade agreement. That’s great news for the U.S. economy and the world trading system. At a time when growth opportunities are scarce, liberalization of global service markets could give a much needed boost to the U.S. economic recovery.

FedEx Helps to Fight Hunger with the Capital Area Food Bank

Imagine a room full of excitement, enthusiasm, and curiosity, which was the ambiance at the Rollingcrest Community Center in Hyattsville, MD with FedEx volunteers who worked with the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) and local school kids to support the CAFB's Weekend Bag Program. These dedicated volunteers assisted during a CAFB demonstration by showing kids how to make a healthy meal with fresh produce, including 'Chef Kim' (Kim Evans, FedEx Services) giving an initial demonstration for everyone to follow. As a result, the kids learned how to make a nutritious fruit salad from ingre
